The Corporate Accounting Team at Harbor is a tech and business savvy group that handles the company’s core accounting and has an immediate opening for an ambitious, senior corporate accountant to join its experienced and growing team.
As a member of this team you will have key responsibilities in the following areas:
Prepare key journal entries, reconcilations and month-end analysis using Workday, one of the leading providers of cloud applications for finance and HR.
Review journal entries prepared by other members of the accounting team.
Analyze 12b-1 and TA fee payments to intermediaries and prepare related accruals.
Collaborate with the Harbor Transfer Agency and Assistant Controller to understand changes in dealer fee agreements and their impact on monthly accruals.
Provide operational support to corporate accountants during the weekly cycle and serve as backup for A/P processing and employee expense reimbursements.
Assist the team with the creation and automation of key financial reporting in the Workday accounting system.
Prepare information used in monthly reporting to management and quarterly reporting to parent company and Harbor Funds Board.
Assist with special projects and ad-hoc reporting to management.
Work with team to analyze, calculate and remit use taxes on vendor invoices where insufficient tax is charged.
Prepare information required for state and federal tax compliance.
Complete and file information with respect to the Company’s personal property with various taxing jurisdictions.
Other tax reporting as required.
Contribute to the preparation of the annual consolidated budget.
Provide support during the quarterly and annual audits, including preparation of financial statements, and related disclosures.
Work with the accounting team and auditors to ensure compliance with the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act as it relates to responsibilities of the position.
Endeavor to continually improve current processes, procedures and communication with other departments and make recommendations for improvement.
Interact regularly with employees at all levels through the organization.

Prior use tax compliance experience preferred.
Technical accounting skills
Experience using Financial ERP systems, Workday preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 3-5 years of related and progressive accounting experience.
