Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, University of Chicago Medicine. The Finance Operations Department is seeking a Budget Analyst III to support all functions of the Office of Buget Operations.
In this Role, the Budget Analyst III supports all functions of the Office of Budget Operations. Major responsibility for the development of the operating budget, including preparation of reports, analysis of activity and expense information and development and preparation of data for budget entry.
Serves as budget representative to selected areas of UCMC; consults on budget development, analysis of budget variances, and development and review of flexible budget
Prepares statistical reports and surveys
Recommends procedures to optimize budget reliability and minimize the need for variance analysis.
Completes ActionOI quarterly submissions and acts as Vizient operational database administrator; meets with UCMC department managers to update normalizations, implement reporting changes, and explain results and reporting
Maintain Kronos Analytics and Labor Cost Management systems
Supports the maintenance of accurate statistical data
Participates in other areas of Budget Office responsibility, such as productivity studies, cost/benefit analyses, database development and computer systems implementation
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Preparation of budget data files and templates; preparation of reports summarizing budget information; analysis of variances between fixed budget. flex budget and actual.
Completes ActionOI quarterly submissions and serve as Vizient operational database administrator
Maintain Kronos Analytics and Labor Cost Management Systems
Recommends various modeling and analytical approaches for budget development.
Performs "what if" analysis to model multiple costing scenarios/approaches within a given area.
Preparation of statistical reports and surveys
Develops and implements budget spreads and other technical issues in the development of the budget
Recommends policies and procedures in accordance with Hospitals standards to optimize the accuracy of patient, financial and statistical data provided to and within related systems

Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
MBA and/or CPA preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in financial planning and analysis required; prior experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills required; excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Ability to work independently at times, as well as part of a team, in a complex organizational setting is required.
Strong PC skills required including advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables and VLOOKUP).
Must be highly inquisitive, creative and resourceful.
