Under administrative direction, this employee applies professional level accounting expertise in the management and administration of the University's financial reporting, asset management, and tax compliance functions.
Duties and Responsibilities (generally)
Provide leadership and direction in the resolution of complex managerial problems.Oversee the day-to- day operation of financial reporting, asset management, and tax compliance for the University, and ensure all transactions and reporting are made in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles on a timely basis. Provide direct supervision of professional level accounting and support staff members within the financial reporting, asset management, and tax functions.Provide expert technical advice to management on complex or controversial accounting issues.Research current GASB standards and make recommendations regarding implementation of new standards. Provides administrative direction in the development of PeopleSoft FMS accounting systems related to financial reporting, asset management, and tax functions, assist in developing policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy or related field AND six (6) years of professional-level accounting experience, two (2) years of which were in a supervisory capacity
Current registration as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or a valid License to practice Public Accounting AND four (4) years of professional-level accounting experience, two (2) of which were in a supervisory capacity OR
Master’s degree in Accountancy or related field AND four (4) years of professional-level accounting experience, two (2) of which were in a supervisory capacity
Demonstrated work experience understanding and interpreting the overall impact on various accounting functions and compliance with government, organizational, and/or other regulations.
Demonstrated knowledge working with an ERP Financial Management System and Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Demonstrated professional level tax accounting work experience.
