The Accounting Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Accounting Department; working with the Controller, the Accounting Manager’s principal areas of responsibility will cover: accounts payable, payroll, cash management, revenue recognition, general ledger, and fixed assets.
Key areas of responsibility:
Oversight of the daily Accounting Department activities and the adherence to and implementation of internal controls.
Manage the periodic close procedures (month-end, quarterly and annual) ensuring that all financial information is captured in the accounting system and that the close timelines are met.
General ledger reconciliations: preparing reconciliations, reviewing reconciliation of others, and making sure all are completed on time.
Review and approve all manual accounting entries to ensure accuracy.
Work with Data Solutions team to provide support for accounting system and all CRM systems.
Be a backup payroll processor and obtain a level of proficiency to provide software (UltiPro) support to all users.
Approve payroll-related payments and review payroll tax returns.
Manage merchant accounts.
Banking activities: setting up accounts, signature management, bank reconciling items, banking fees, and positive pay exceptions.
Administer third-party expense reporting system for commercial credit cards and reimbursable expenses.
Manage direct reports: Staff Accountants, AP Clerk, and Payroll Supervisor.
Management of accounting department records and supporting documentation.
Assist the Controller with:
Create work plans for the Accounting Department to establish clear expectations and timelines. Oversee the planning and follow through of goals, development and training for department staff.
Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and taxing authorities.
Preparation and analysis for annual audit
Actively pursue an understanding of all JCC programs in order to be fully engaged in the vision and mission of the agency.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA certification highly preferred. 5+ years’ experience in Accounting or related fields with previous supervisory experience. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Must be able to quickly become proficient in software systems and online banking modules. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office with an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel a must. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in accounting principles, payroll processes and related tax laws with a strong understanding of GAAP a must.
