Job Summary: The Finance & Administrative Services (FAS) department is seeking an accounting professional to assist with departmental reviews, fiscal compliance and internal audits. Essential duties include the documentation and testing of internal controls; review of departments to ensure compliance with established financial and administrative policies; preparation of periodic financial reports and internal reviews; and ensure adherence to all external reporting requirements.
This position reports directly to the Deputy Finance Director. You will have endless opportunities to impact and make a difference within Lake County. Being able to build working relationships with employees, 30 countywide departments and the public, is sure to keep you interested and continuously learning.
In order to be successful in this role you will need to be team oriented, have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a substantially similar area, working knowledge of governmental accounting theory, and generally accepted accounting principles and practices. Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting environment, preferably in Public Accounting, or an equivalent combination of experience and training is recommended to perform the functions of the position. The individual should have a high level of comfort utilizing technology, computers, and basic office software with heavy emphasis in spreadsheet functions. Completion of Certificate in Public Accounting (CPA), or similar certification is preferable, but not required.
