The Corporate Accountant is responsible for all aspects of the company’s accounts payable process as well as general ledger accounting for Harbor Capital Advisors. The Corporate Accounting Team is comprised of 4 accountants reporting to the Corporate Controller.
Accounts Payable Processing
Ensure appropriate authorization of invoices
Code invoices to the appropriate expense or accrual account and related worktags
Work with vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies
Interact regularly with internal personnel both in accounting and other departments
Coordinate the payment of checks with the bank through the positive pay process
Run pay cycle to create checks
Prepare wire transfer instructions for certain vendor payments
Process and pay employee expense reimbursements
Create and maintain a schedule of period end accruals
Track and remit Sales and Use tax on a monthly basis on invoices where insufficient tax is charged by the vendor
Regular and ad hoc reporting of expense and payment information
Create 1099’s annually for vendors
Gather information and create journal entries
Reconcile account balances
Analyze financial statement information and account activity
Involvement in the annual external audit
Work with internal auditor to ensure compliance with the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act as it relates to accounts payable and other responsibilities of the position
Additional responsibilities as required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
Up to 3 years of accounts payable, general ledger entry and reconciliation experience preferred
Experience using Workday or other accounting software
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required (technical skills, communication skills, customer focus, time management skills, independence, and accuracy)
Great organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Proven ability to meet deadlines and to work well in a team environment
