My firm is a second generation Accounting firm serving the Southwest suburbs for over 50 years. Part time associate positions for the 2019 tax season. After tax season, successful candidates may be asked to continue as part time. Our firm's mission is to help make our clients lives better.
Job Summary: Outside of tax season 1 to 2 days a week. During tax season potential for full time during height of tax season.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, ability to accomplish tasks independently, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well with our team and clients. The position is responsible for managing the tax related needs of individual and business clients of our firm by accurately completing returns and resolving tax issues. The growth potential is based upon the candidate's ability to handle complex tax matters without supervision.
During tax season you need a willingness to work Sundays during February-April. You will have every Saturday off during tax season to spend with your family.
For the remainder of the year, we offer flexible scheduling, including the option reduced summer hours.

Responsibilities • Prepare individual tax returns including Schedule A, Schedule C, Schedule D, Schedule E, and States tax returns, etc. • Prepare business tax returns (corporations, partnerships, or trust returns). • Generates, e-file 941-940 -1099's W-2's for clients • Complete preparation of financial statements including balance sheet; profit and loss statements and other reports such as client division of income. • Bi-weekly payroll as well as quarterly and annual payroll tax returns • Bookkeeping to include Accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements • Drafting letters to IRS in response to various notice • Must have a positive and open-minded attitude • Represent the firm to the public in a professional manner • Ability to work independently, meet strict deadlines and maintain flexibility with work assignments • Excellent time management and organizational skills • Detail oriented - Find Errors and double check own and others work before submitting documents, or e-filing any paperwork • Effective clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with client and co-workers • Identify tax issues, recommend solutions and/or suggestions, and share them with the partner and/or clients • Handle routine client questions and work with clients to obtain the necessary information for financials and tax return completion • Experience working in a fast-paced environment. • Misc. office : answering phone, filing, & mailing; • Various projects and other duties as assigned • Successful candidate will possess analytical problem-solving abilities, flexibility to adapt to new situations, ability to prioritize effectively and interest in working as part of a team. • Candidates will be tested on general accounting knowledge and income tax preparation. • Candidates will also undergo a background check, and possible drug test
Education Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in accounting and 2 years of experience in corporate or public accounting. • CPA certification or EA preferred not required • MUST HAVE PTIN or ability to obtain PTIN
Software Skills • Experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Drake Tax, preferred. • Advanced skills in MS Office • Typing speed minimum 30 words per minute • Candidates will be asked to demonstrate a high level of QuickBooks and Excel proficiency. • Experience with Drake Software preferred not required.
