In this exciting role as Principal Internal Auditor, you will serve as an internal consultant to assist management in implementing the Laboratory`s internal audit program as well as conduct assigned audits in accordance with directions from the Internal Audit Director. You will perform all aspects of assigned audit fieldwork and prepare audit reports of various Laboratory functions. With limited ongoing input from the Director, this position performs advanced level professional internal auditing including audits of vendors/contracts, special inspections/ investigations, and other duties as assigned. This role will also monitor and verify the implementation of audit recommendations. As assigned by the Director, you may provide direction to staff auditors or external service providers on an as needed basis.
The individual chosen for this role will:
Plan, conduct, and report on assigned internal audits
Participate and may function as a lead on special projects
Monitor and verify implementation of audit recommendations
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experiences:
Demonstrated experience in all aspects of audit planning, field work and report writing.
Knowledge and exposure to Information Systems auditing including automated audit techniques.
Experience in financial, operational, and contract/vendor auditing as well as the performance of special investigations/inspections.
Deep knowledge of accounting and auditing supplemented by working experience in public accounting and/or a related industry.
Results oriented with strong project management skills.
Considerable interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and ability to interact diplomatically and tactfully with people at all levels both within and outside the laboratory.
Skill and the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and organization skills with the ability to multi-task in a quick paced environment often with changing priorities.
Extensive analytical and investigative skills and the ability to make evaluations based upon factual information.
Knowledge of and exposure to Information Systems auditing including automated audit techniques.
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and mentor team members.
Designation as a Certified Public Accountant or as a Certified Internal Auditor is required.
Designation as Certified Fraud Examiner or as a Certified Information Systems Auditor is desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as, Accounting, and 6+ years of experience or equivalent, some occupations may require graduate degree and 4+ years or equivalent.
