Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the Controller, the Accountant will be responsible for supporting the business, accounting functions and the office operations of the Institute's finance office as well as interaction with our headquarters in Rome.
Monthly reconciliations of investment accounts
Preparation and posting of monthly journal entries for several entities
Assistance with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements
Accounts payable and receivable support
Assist with budget preparations
Assist with global financial reporting
Work closely with staff and external consultants to optimize a system of internal controls
Develop and manage all office operations, policies and procedures including digitizing office and filing systems
Manage relationships with allvendors and service providers
Acting as a liaison between Chicago and Rome offices, and certain Cabrini works throughout the world
Point person for mailing, shipping, supplies, equipment, bank visits and errands
Manage special projects as assigned
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (A minor in International Affairs is a plus)
3+ years experience in accounting, preferably in nonprofit organizations
Bilingual in Spanish or Italian is required
Knowledge and ability to work with computer- based accounting systems
Office operations knowledge and experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as QuickBooks
Flexibility and work ethic to succeed in a growing organization
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines and handle various project simultaneously
Demonstrate multi-cultural competencies and have a capacity to work as part of a team in an international setting
Demonstrate a deep passion for the missionary, programmatic, and organizational goals of the Institute
