We are GROWING and looking for a Vice President of Audit to lead and elevate our existing Audit functions. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced auditor who wants to oversee the strategic direction for the audit functions in order to ensure proper internal controls are in place to detect theft, misapplication of funds, reduce potential cyber exposures, or noncompliance with established policies. We're actively hiring during Covid-19 for this position. You'll start working from home then when we return to the office in Summer 2021, you'll be based in Gurnee, IL at our corporate office.

What you’ll do in this role:

As the VP of Audit, you’ll have three direct reports and you’ll direct the execution of internal risk-rated Internal Audit plan program as well as the External Audits including collaborating with audit firms and business units to ensure successful completion. You’ll be involved in project management of audit initiatives including working other areas such as technology. As the lead subject matter expert, you’ll provide value-added recommendations and guidance to the business units to optimize internal controls and balance that with risk and member experience.

Here’s more of your key responsibilities:

• Establish the strategic direction to develop and execute the risk-rated internal audit plan and the oversight of the external audit plan by developing short- and long-term objectives.
• Ensure execution and coordination of the monthly internal audit plan and programs. You’ll also oversee the external audit program that includes the independent public accountants, and other external audit firms.
• Direct external audits such as financial statement audits, pension and 401(K) audits, information technology audits, and external BSA audits. Conduct RPFs for external audit firms to optimize pricing and services. Ensure tracking of findings, communication of exposures, and the resolution of the findings with the business units.
• Lead, supervise, and develop audit staff to grow talent and technical bench depth and drive employee engagement.
• Serve as a consulting resource on the Credit Union’s internal controls in the physical, digital, and cyber channels. You’ll oversee special investigations and audits as requested by executive management and management committees.
• Keep leadership and management committees apprised of audit plan progress. Present appropriate management committees and/or Board of Directors on audit reports, audit recommendations, and strategic audit issues. You’ll function as the key management liaison for Internal Audit and External Audit discussions with regulatory agencies.

The Ideal Candidate Will Meet These Requirements:

• 10+ years’ finance industry experience in audit risk assessment, internal audit, external audit, risk mitigations or internal controls. 5+ years of people management experience.
• Master’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Ability to manage the breadth of Audit with an understanding of internal control exposures in the digital and cyber landscape and digital engagement in financial services.
• Experience and high comfort level with presenting reports to management committees and Board of Directors.
• Respected collaborator who can effectively work across the business.
• Certified as a CPA, CBA, CISA and/or CUIA.
