The Manager of Accounting is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting for the firm and often must handle tight deadlines on a multitude of accounting reports and activities, including general ledger preparation, payroll, accounts payable, cash receipts, billing, and financial reporting.
This position will also:
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Prepare all monthly financial statements, billing reports, and new client reports and distribute to select group within the firm in a timely fashion.
Be responsible for various year-end financial reports.
Deposit daily cash receipts.
Maintain vacation, time bank, comp time and overtime records for all employees.
Prepare semimonthly payroll including transfer of funds to health savings accounts and retirement plans.
Prepare semimonthly reimbursement of employee expenses including flexible spending account reimbursements.
Reconcile monthly pension reports on a regular basis.
Create quarterly reports for shareholder pay calculation.
Update billing rates in all software systems and reports, twice a year
Maintain the firm’s time and billing system, including training new employees on the software and the firm’s time and billing procedures.
Work with confidential financial information about the firm on a regular basis.
Assemble annual 1099s and sales tax return.
Prepare yearly percent of business calculation and work papers.
We require a bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent number of years of experience; at least 5 years of progressively responsible accounting/finance experience. Candidates should have a keen attention to detail; experience leveraging technology; excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills; mathematical aptitude; and proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel.
Telecommuting is allowed.
