The Fixed Income Financing business sits within Global Markets and the main mandate of the desk is to make markets in repo format on bonds issued by governments and corporates across regions. Any execution on back of market making takes the form of financing client's long positions or lending bonds to cover a client short.
The financing desk on top of its market making role, services in-house bond trading desks by funding longs and covering shorts along-with providing collateral to the custody, clearing and derivatives collateral business. The desk deals with range of clients from hedge-funds, real money, sovereign wealth funds/central banks etc mainly via our sales team while facing other dealers in the inter-bank market either through electronic or voice brokers and settling directly with the dealers or via a central clearing counterparty.
Job Responsibilities
Make markets to clients across a range of x-currency and collateral pairs both in form of cash and x-currency collateral swaps.
Actively monitor risks arising out of traded positions and ensure appropriately hedged as outlined in the trader mandate using various hedging products such as swaps, futures etc
Track funding positions of the book across currencies and maturities.
Work with others in the trading desk, product controllers and operations team to identify main cost drivers and come up with procedures or tools to reduce and work on improving efficiency in settlement.
Work closely with QR and ATS teams to improve the level of automation and electronic trading
Act as an effective cover for other flow books and assist them in pricing client flows, resolving client queries linked to settlements, coupons etc
Work with teams especially within treasury functions across geographical locations to efficiently manage desks' liquidity, capital and leverage; work with flow desks to manage collateral needs for triparty across the main triparty agents
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
Must have demonstrated knowledge of global macroeconomics and geopolitics as it pertains to macro financial markets;
Must have demonstrated knowledge of securities funding and derivatives;
Must have demonstrated knowledge of Asia local markets and Asia security market characteristics, including liquidity, fundamentals, and local regulations;
Good to have experience using and leveraging trading technology and applications, including trading aggregators, trading algorithms, third-party trading platforms, front-end trading systems, ecommerce systems, and spreadsheets including macros and functions.
Should be able to work with various sales teams and clients to come up with structures and format that can help clients with smooth execution
At least Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, CFA level 3 a plus
Ability to write periodic commentary on market trends
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
Highly proficient in Bloomberg, Excel and Python.
Demonstrate intellectual curiosity in understanding the various binding constraints and the impact it has on trading behaviour.
Demonstrate interest in understanding the inter-connectedness of various markets especially in money market space
Prior roles within fixed income controls, tech & ops a plus
