As a Financial Controller at a SaaS company, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations and activities of the organisation. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's financial health, implementing financial strategies, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management to provide financial insights and drive informed decision-making. This role requires strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
You will be reporting to the CFO and act as the head of finance running a small team in the UK and be asked to go in the office 1 day a week. With this role as the company is growing there is room for growth and to learn from a seasoned CFO. The Finance function is being built out in the UK and the company is head quartered in the US.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Provide analysis and commentary on financial performance, variances, and trends.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the company's annual budget and financial forecasting processes. Work closely with department heads to ensure alignment and monitor budgetary performance throughout the year.
Internal Controls: Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures to safeguard company assets. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Operations, and Human Resources, to provide financial insights and guidance. Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as auditors, tax advisers, and financial institutions.
Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including tax filings, financial reporting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS), and industry-specific regulations. Coordinate and manage financial audits, responding to audit inquiries and implementing necessary changes.
Team Leadership: Supervise and develop a team of finance professionals. Provide mentor ship, guidance, and training to enhance their skills and contribute to their professional growth.
Qualifications and Skills:
ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA qualification is a must ideally 8 - 15 years of total experience is beneficial.
Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar finance leadership role within a SaaS company or technology industry, ideally 2 - 3 years.
In-depth knowledge of financial accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
Proficiency in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
Experience in managing cash flow, liquidity, and working capital.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with a high level of integrity and ethics.
Advanced proficiency in financial software and systems, such as ERP and financial reporting tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders in the US and Europe.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of SaaS business models, metrics, and revenue recognition principles is a must.
