About our client
Our client is a well-established mid-market private equity firm with over 200 employees worldwide. With patient capital, entrepreneurial expertise, and a partnership approach, they prioritize the performance of their portfolio companies, aiding them in creating sustainable value. Currently, they are seeking a Senior Controller to join their team in Zug, Switzerland, to assist in establishing a new structure and support them on their successful journey. What the job involves
With day-to-day reporting to the Finance Director - DACH based in Zug, but also a functional reporting to the Head of Corporate Accounting, the Corporate/Financial Controller will ensure that monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and tax returns are prepared, assist with budget preparation and all corporate administrative affairs. The role will be a hands-on role and include some more basic finance tasks including accounts payable, journal entries and bank reconciliations. Liaising with international teams, external tax and legal advisors as well as auditors is also an essential part of the job.
Prepare financial statements and tax returns of the corporate entities in Switzerland, Germany, Italy and the UK including consolidation
Lead the year-end audit process
Interact with external administrators as well as the teams based in Munich, London, Milan and Luxembourg
Support during the quarterly reporting process
Prepare budget and business plan including cash flow forecast
Take ownership of the payroll process and travel expense reports
Prepare and execute regular payment runs
Apply the transfer pricing policy and keep the accounts up to date in this respect
Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc reporting
Support the Managing Partner, CFO, Finance Director - DACH and the Head of Corporate Accounting with any tasks regarding corporate controlling, reporting or operational improvement as required
Who we are looking for
A few years of experience in accounting, audit or tax (ideally with a Big4)
Preferably an accounting degree, any further qualification would be a plus (ACCA / CIMA German or Swiss equivalent)
Affinity for tax and accounting related questions and willingness to learn in that field
Previous exposure to corporate functions (budgeting, payroll, etc.) would be helpful
Strong analytical skills
Strong communication skills and work ethic
Hands-on with a self-starter mentality
Proficiency in MS Excel and willingness to become acquainted with new software, exposure to other accounting software (e.g.
Financial Force/DATEV for Germany) would be a plus
Attention to detail, organized and takes initiative
Willingness to travel to the other offices on an occasional basis
Good inter-personal skills and a collaborative approach
Willingness to reach out from core responsibilities and assist where necessary
Fluent in English and German, Italian would be beneficial
