Senior Manager, Technical Accounting:
The Senior Manager, Technical Accounting is a key role and member within the Corporate Controller group and leads the technical accounting and research function.
This position will be primarily responsible for the analysis and communication of sophisticated and complex technical accounting considerations within the organization. This role will routinely provide technical accounting mentorship related to various issues such as contracts, derivatives, impairment analysis, acquisitions, divestitures, and overall application of new and existing accounting standards. You will be able to rely upon experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks/projects in a timely manner, including the ability to work under deadlines and work proactively with senior management and external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters.
What You’ll Do:
- Research, summarize, and advise the Company on the expected accounting and financial reporting and disclosure implications of significant transactions
- Develop, interpret, and maintain accurately detailed policies and procedures, and collaborate with others to implement any new policies and best practices within the organization
- Own the implementation of new accounting standards
- Serve as a resource regarding the application of accounting policies and ensure appropriate internal controls and procedures are in place for applicable technical accounting processes
- Assist in the preparation or review of financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A supporting work-papers
- Monitor communications from regulatory bodies, accounting firms and other external sources to remain apprised of practices, regulations, and interpretive accounting and provide guidance regarding potential impacts to operational and reporting processes as well as financial results
- Provide consultation support for day-to-day questions on accounting and reporting.
- Perform the annual impairment analysis for goodwill and intangible assets
- Perform other duties as required or requested
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 8+ years accounting experience (Big 4 public accounting firm or second tier a plus)
- CPA
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP)
- Ability to evaluate technical accounting concepts
- Ability to influence people and processes without direct responsibility
- Ability to prioritize, plan, organize and meet deadlines
