TheRole: Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Controller
The Location: New York, NY
The Team: The Corporate Controller's team is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting including, preparing and reviewing the SEC reporting requirements for S&P Global.
The Impact: The Corporate Controller's team is hiring an ESG Controller to design and implement disclosure controls and procedures and provide oversight over ESG disclosures in S&P Global's SEC filings as well as information in S&P Global's publicly available ESG reports. The ESG Controller's responsibilities will be global in scope and require working closely with functions and disciplines across the organization to ensure timely and accurate reporting of ESG disclosures in a standardized and controlled process.

Responsibilities:
Act as a subject matter expert on the latest SEC, U.S. GAAP, IFRS and global developments as it relates to climate-related disclosures and other ESG matters.
Establish strong processes to prepare and review climate and other ESG-related disclosures and ensure information is accurate, complete and in compliance with SEC and FASB standards, as applicable.
Ensure that ESG disclosure requirements (including those expected from the SEC and international regulators) are properly vetted and implemented in a well-controlled process from an end-to-end perspective.
Key leader in the development and execution of the ESG disclosure control program strategy to reduce risk and create efficiencies, leveraging use of technology where appropriate.
Assess existing reporting processes including, input assessment, data capture, controls and governance, and evaluation of systems capabilities.
Maintain an effective internal control environment, validating the design and effectiveness of controls and the reliability of data used in reporting and control execution.
Act as a liaison between Finance, Corporate Responsibility and Legal to establish proper processes and controls around climate and other ESG-related disclosures. Support functional areas to implement new business processes and controls for data gathering and reporting.
Establish governance practices and represent ESG matters in various committee and Company initiatives as required.
Participate in advancing a highly effective communication strategy to ensure clear understanding of ESG disclosure control principles and guidance and maximum alignment with Management's ESG vision.
Key contributor to the technology implementation of ESG control and reporting management tool, such as Workiva.
What We're Looking For: Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
8+ years of strong finance background, experience in ESG and/or financial reporting, processes, internal controls, systems.
Knowledgeable in ESG related disclosures and industry trends, and willing to develop expertise.
Strong communication skills including the ability to effectively collaborate at various levels across the company.
Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
Previous experience in working in complex environments and driving change and continuous improvement.
Proficiency/knowledge in Workiva is preferred.
Compensation/Benefits Information (This section is only applicable to US candidates): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 . Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
