Team / Division Overview
The US DWS Divisional Control Office (DCO) is a central Business function mandated to design effective and adequate framework of internal Business controls in collaboration with the business and infrastructure functions, support risk owners in the implementation of their respective framework and controls, to represent Business in various Groups and DWS fora (e.g. Americas OpCo, MRC, RCC) and oversee the implementation of the NFRM framework, as (per the minimum standards) defined by the relevant 2LoD.
Role Details
As a Senior Team Manager DWS Control Officer, you will (be):
Represent and serve as the primary point of contact for the entire DWS business control function in the Americas
Manage a team and oversee control-related activities, including risk and control assessments, provide control related due diligence to foster a proactive culture.
Oversee the regional organization on regulatory and control activities
Represent DWS Americas business control function in the relevant committees and forums (DWS Operating Council (OpCo), US Remediation SteerCo, MRC,...)
Oversee and lead monthly committees and forums, regulatory related initiatives and ad hoc presentations
Lead Divisional Control Management Americas for Risk control projects including regulatory and exam support which includes providing controls oversight and guidance to business partners.
Oversee for regulatory coordination and remediation efforts and liaise with Internal Audit to review the schedules, status of engagements and potential areas of concerns.
Review the adequacy of controls and identify areas requiring additional attention.
Ensure strong coordination of risk-activities across the region as a key partner of all business units and control functions
Lead business control reviews and audit results and helps remediation
Leads the design, development and implementation of effective internal controls and required remediation programs
Oversee the regional dynamic Risk & Control Assessments
Track issues and action plans to ensure progress toward planned completion dates. Promote zero tolerance for overdues.
Monitor established control KPIs, challenge risk assessments and priorities remediation steps
Drive consistent and rigorous control programs, including control committees, risk mitigation, key risk indicators, key risk performance indicators, control design and effectiveness evaluation and testing.
Review and sign-off of closure for F3 and F4 findings submitted by the Business
Identify control gaps, evaluate and redesign as required
Challenge the adequacy/effectiveness of the control environment and remediation plans
Advise and consult the Business on design, development and implementation of effective and adequate internal controls and required remediation programs
Lead and motivate a team and provide ongoing feedback and training to develop employees
Partner effectively with colleagues across the firm, business, legal, compliance, risk, audit and regulators to drive regulatory driven initiatives.
We are looking for:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Business Law, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
15+ years of financial services experience in business control management, compliance, audit, quality assurance or risk management
Demonstrate confident leadership with sound judgement and ability to multitask, work well under pressure with commitment to deliver under tight deadlines. Demonstrate ability to influence.
FINRA licenses 7, 24 a plus
Knowledge of asset management regulations a plus
Knowledge / experience with regulators (FED, SEC, FINRA) a plus
Experience with implementing effective control environment especially in the Financial Services industry
Extensive experience in business control management, non-financial risk management or operational risk management and demonstrable familiarity with regulatory environment
Outstanding ability to analyze problems with keen attention to detail
Work autonomously to affect change adaptable to shifting priorities. Manage competing priorities to achieve the most effective result and ability to work in a fast paced, results driven environment.
Exceptional communication (oral and written) with high degree of comfort communicating with senior management and ExBo members.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $196,000 to $275,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration
