Responsibilities
The role is to provide legal and compliance (L&C) support and coverage for IBG and Global Transactional Services (GTS). IBG & GTS provides corporate customers with a full range of commercial banking products and services, including cash management services, trade and supply chain finance, custody services, working capital finance, loans and foreign exchange. The role will provide in-depth exposure to the IBG and GTS business. The candidate will be expected to work closely with the existing L&C team and business partners. In addition, there will be opportunities to work with counterparts and business partners regionally outside Singapore where there are similar lines of business.
Provide timely, commercial and sensible compliance and regulatory advice to internal stakeholders, including providing advice on cross-border and domestic requirements relating to IBG/GTS business.
Anticipate, evaluate and resolve regulatory issues (including disputes, complaints, regulatory breaches) in a timely and practical matter, including liaising with regulators and relevant internal stakeholders.
Review new products and other business initiatives (e.g. new business ventures and new transaction structures) and consider the impact of relevant rules and regulations on IBG/GTS and Legal & Compliance.
Review the impact of new / amended regulations and provide feedback and implications on the proposed regulations to IBG/GTS.
Coordinate regulatory inspections involving the corporate banking business.
Support the development and execution of new products (including loans/hire purchase/risk participations/bancassurance), initiatives and digital solutions. Support and assist in the review and negotiation of transactional documentation.
Implement tools/processes to mitigate regulatory and compliance risks, review materials to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and provide thematic training to internal stakeholders.
Maintain proactive regulatory relationships with financial regulators. Where necessary, also manage and develop productive and efficient relationships with external counsel.
Requirements
At least 7 years relevant experience in a regulatory function in a financial institution.
Relevant banking and compliance experience as a compliance officer, auditor, lawyer or regulatory examiner, with exposure to different corporate banking products and businesses.
Detailed understanding of the key regulations relevant to the corporate banking business, as well as working knowledge of the diverse corporate banking products. Knowledge of cross border regulatory and legal framework (particularly in DBS core markets) will be an added advantage.
Degree or Professional qualification in related field. Degree in law will be an added advantage.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication and inter-personal skills, ability to provide advice reflecting lateral thought and ability to work on multiple tasks, including running projects and managing multiple stakeholders.
Must be a self-starter with initiative, be a team player who is innovative, customer focus and performance and results orientated.
Able to effectively prioritize, manage and complete multiple transactions / tasks within deadlines
Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
