POSITION OBJECTIVE
The primary role of the staffaccountant is to maximize the businesses' opportunity for fulfillment and growth. A staff accountant builds relationships with new clients and manages relationships with existing ones whilst meeting time and revenue budgets and workflow deadlines. A successful staff accountant will have a high level of intellectual curiosity to identify gaps, growth and other potential for the client.
Position Specification
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Accounting or Finance.Appropriate industry body certification such as CPA. Other additional and relevant qualifications could include qualifications in management, business and information technology.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential): professional accounting experience, thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures, working knowledge of accounting software platforms, personal integrity – ability to keep client and company confidences, computer literacy skills including Microsoft suite of products, demonstrated teamwork skills, ability to understand client needs and recommend services and fees for service, ability to manage multiple relationships and deadlines, experience reporting directly to upper management, ability to demonstrate initiative and innovative thinking, excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and organize efficiently, strong analytical skills, ability to be effective under pressure, experience in budget and workflow management, demonstrated experience in meeting budgets and deadlines, excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with demonstrated success in working effectively with a diverse range of people.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Desirable): experience in GAAP and corporate tax as it relates to the construction industry, business management knowledge,demonstrated experience in identifying new opportunities for clients to improve or enhance their situation, experience overseeing budgets and expenses, desire to grow through continual training, natural proficiency with math and a passion for business and the construction industry.

General responsibilities
? Manage the accounting tasks effectively and to ensure maximum use of capacity appropriately, productivity and efficiency targets are met.
? Provide training and development to the team in line with organizational goals and objectives.
? Review for technical and quality purposes. Provide feedback and support to team where applicable.
? Document accurate working papers, accurate reporting, and data verification, verify accuracy of data, and report, identify, and correct errors made by both internal and external personnel
? Make recommendations to clients aligned with company objectives
? Monitor policies and procedures and suggest improvements for accounting reporting and recording procedures
? Comply with federal, state, and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and maintaining compliance
? Continue ongoing education by participating in webinars, workshops, and networking events
? Support timely quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial deliverables, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all assigned client’s operational management accounts
? Provide schedules and commentary with respect to operating maintenance accounts results and variances, and with the production of working capital, cash-flow reports, as well as applicable commentary
? Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets
? Prepare special financial reports for clients by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
? Build and maintain lasting relationships with clients by understanding focus and needs, and anticipating them in advance
? Coordinate internal and external resources to manage and expedite workflow
? Manage communication between upper management and team – in office, remote or virtual
? Stay current with company offerings and industry trends
? Oversee and achieve organizational goals while upholding best practices
? Support and solve problems for clients by understanding and exceeding their expectations
? Illustrate the value of products and services to create growth opportunities; compile and analyze data to identify trends
? Participate in brainstorming, office activities, team meetings and client meetings, researching and assisting with program development for existing clients and new prospects
? Perform prospecting activities as directed by management
? Follow up with clients regularly to ensure needs are being met and identify opportunities.
? Maintain a database of clients, prospects, partners, and vendors
? Ensure all financial records comply with internal policies.
