HFG is partnering with a major US Insurer who operates in the Lloyd's & London Market to find a commercially minded Tax specialist for this newly created role following significant growth and complexity of the UK/European business. This role will be visible to several different stakeholders across the business and will ensure that they are alert & responsive to risks regarding indirect tax issues. The role is mainly non-compliance focused and will be a leading figure within the wider finance & change initiatives on behalf of the London Tax team.
Lead discussions with the business and represent indirect tax on business advisory and special projects.
Develop and run projects around indirect tax opportunities and legislative developments. This includes building and maintaining project momentum.
Maintain, document and communicate material questions, concerns or issues arising out of the tax and non-tax specific projects and initiatives, which may result in tax process implications.
Assist and represent indirect tax during strategic and corporate initiatives and consult with relevant tax team members to provide a joint perspective to the business
Collaborate with tax compliance and reporting team to ensure complete and correct reporting around indirect tax advisory positions.
Keep up to date with tax legislative developments and apply them as maybe relevant.
Provide technical insight and review of indirect tax returns.
Manage the development of indirect tax assistant managers. Providing structure, support and advice.
Collaborate and proactively engage with the tax team to enable them to respond to indirect tax challenges
This role would suit a candidate with at least 5 years post qualified experience (ACA, CTA) working as an Indirect Tax specialist. You will ideally have worked in a Professional Service firm in an advisory capacity and will be comfortable dealing with all levels of internal and external stakeholders. Extensive experience optimising and managing VAT positions is important and Financial Services and IPT experience advantageous. You will need a strong technical knowledge of UK Indirect tax and awareness of global indirect taxes, particularly across the EMEA region, including experience of partly exempt VAT groups.
This is a hybrid role with an expectation to be in the London based office twice a week.
