Rapidly growing CPA firm in need of a Staff Accountant. Confidentiality, being a team player, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines.
Firm has been in business 39 years and is located in Downers Grove, Illinois. There are currently six employees and two partners. We have a sister company that shares office space with us, and they have approximately eight employees and three partners.
Develop relationships and be the point person for your core group of clients. This includes getting to know the clients as individuals as well as how their business runs.
Posting weekly or monthly activity for clients into their QuickBooks (either desktop or online, depending on the client)
Performing month-end reviews and reconciling accounts to bank and credit card statements
Generating journal entries, accruals, and other adjustments as needed for your core group of clients
Generate accurate monthly, quarterly or annual financial statements for clients per their engagement letters on a timely basis
Respond to client inquiries regarding transactions or additional requests
Research accounting and tax related matters when unsure of treatment
Assist in preparing business and personal tax returns during tax season
Assist with running payroll and preparing quarterly payroll tax returns when needed
Report to the Director of Business Services
CPA or currently sitting for the CPA and have passed at least two sections.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Client relationship driven and approachable by clients
Ability to be professional in all written and verbal communications with clients and co-workers
Detail-oriented and desire to avoid spelling errors and other careless mistakes
Respectful of client confidentiality in all transfers of information
Proactive attitude and ability to make suggestions to improve our workflows
Experience with QuickBooks Online and desktop, Online Payroll, Microsoft 365, Office Tools Pro or similar time/project tracking software, Drake tax software (or other similar tax software)
Ability to work in a paperless office
