WE ARE HIRING! Join our team and become our new full-time SENIOR ACCOUNTANT in the Finance Department. Reporting to the Assistant Finance Director and partnering with another Senior Accountant, this position plays a key management role in the processing of financial transactions, preparation of the annual financial audit, and supervisory oversight of front counter operations.
Primary Responsibilities…
Supervises front counter staff, identifies operating problems, and evaluates the quality and quantity of departmental production.
Leads the migration of the manual ledger onto the Tyler/Munis system.
Maintains the fixed asset ledger.
Reconciles various escrow accounts and calculates deferred revenue.
Prepares reports for the PACE bus initiative.
Collaborates with auditors to conduct Police and Fire pension audits.
Complies with all applicable Village ordinances, Federal, State, and County laws, and related accounting or reporting standards.
Secondary Responsibilities…
Reviews financial information, reconciles accounts, prepares or approves journal entries, and ensures the timeliness and accuracy of month-end transactions.
Assists with completion of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and prepares annual tax increment financing (TIF) reports for related agencies.
Delivers key financial data to senior management and verifies deposit amounts against daily cash reports.
Qualified candidates should…
Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or a substantially similar field with intermediate accounting coursework; a CPA certification and/or CPFO designation is also preferred.
Have three (3) or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a municipal environment with knowledge of fund accounting, internal control concepts, and GASB standards.
Have experience supervising and managing staff.
Possess knowledge of GAAP and intermediate experience with spreadsheets.
Have experience with Tyler/Munis enterprise software or similar financial software.

Typical hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
