Summary of Position:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for processing all financial transactions related to NAMA, the NAMA Foundation, and a for-profit LLC. The Senior Accountant processes revenue and expenses, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable while maintaining appropriate support schedules for key balance sheet accounts for NAMA. Provides financial analytical support to the Chief Financial Officer and Program Directors for both the Association and Foundation
Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as primary accountant for the NAMA Foundation
Acts as primary accountant for a for-profit LLC
Assists the Executive Director of the NAMA Foundation with accounting, budgeting and financial analysis of the Foundation’s financial data.
Accurately processes A/R & A/P transactions daily via the Great Plains accounting system. Prepares timely and accurate journal entries and financial reports to include expense analysis, balance sheets, income statements, and other ad hoc reporting requests.
Prepares periodic journal entries supported by agreed-upon documentation.
Review and reconcile ledger balances at month-end and analyze discrepancies and budget variances.
Manages cash transactions by managing bank deposits, credit card transactions, and ACH payments.
Assists with the Annual Budget process, forecasting, and year-end audit preparation.
Maintains compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and local legal requirements by remaining abreast of applicable existing and new legislation. Advises the VP of Finance and Administration on actions and potential risks.
Enhances and/or develops policies, procedures, and systems that will ensure the accuracy of financial information and effective internal controls.
Maintain strict financial and accounting system controls & standards in accordance with GAAP
Assists program directors with financial analysis and models as may be needed to effectively manage their areas of responsibility.
Produce periodic financial statements for the NAMA Foundation.
Prepare periodic forecasts of the NAMA Foundation full year results
Assist NAMA Foundation Executive Director and NAMA CFO in producing annual financial budget for the NAMA Foundation
Assists with member registration process for trade shows.
Possesses in depth understanding of GAAP as it pertains to Not-For-Profit organizations.
Demonstrated experience with budgeting and forecasting.

Possess organizational savvy, understand the dynamics of the organization and its commitment to members and use that information to establish alliances to achieve organizational objectives.
Self-starter, able to work independently, and efficiently
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance along with 10-12 years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience.
Must be flexible, analytical, highly detail minded, organized and responsive to requests and deadlines.
Advanced proficiency in MS Dynamics GP (Great Plains), MS Dynamics Report Writer and MS Dynamic Budget applications a must. MS Office software; specifically, advanced Excel skills; Experience with Adobe products, Paylocity, Certify and other accounting / other business-related software.
Experience with iMIS membership CRM platform a plus
Public and private accounting experience desired
Prior experience with accounting system migrations and conversions a plus
