Full Time - Financial Aid Advisor, Scholarships
The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time - Financial Aid Advisor, Scholarships at our Brenham Campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:
Job Summary
Process all internal and external scholarship funds for students. Including but not limited to Athletic, Endowed, STEM, State, Exemplary, Academic, etc. Process students' information and award financial aid to eligible students in accordance with regulations and appropriate documentation, such as scholarship agreements and thank-you letters. Is the main contact for scholarships and is responsible for awarding and contacting donors and students. Provide student customer services as required at the campus and other events.
Principal Accountabilities
- Award endowed scholarships, contact students, and prepare notices for recipients. Work with the Foundation on the utilization and processing of scholarship funds. Works with departments on the utilization and processing of scholarship funds. Responsible for ensuring that scholarship applications have been reviewed and are ready for use for the various scholarships.
- Administration and first contact for all other scholarships for students, whether from outside entities or internal offices.
- Work with other advisors to process all external scholarship funds by sending them to the Accounting Department for deposit, posting them to the student's account, and returning funds if students do not attend.
- Work with other advisors to process athletic scholarships and adjust those received from management.
- Provide customer services and advise students and parents on navigating the process to apply for and receive Financial Aid/Scholarship/Veteran Educational Benefits. This is accomplished in person, by email, and by phone.
- Process financial aid, scholarships, and veteran educational benefits. Ensuring that the quality of work and accuracy contribute to compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies. This includes processing various exception reports that are part of the financial aid process.
- Provide community outreach presentations about financial aid to various groups. Provides direct service to students and parents regarding all aspects of financial aid through various channels (phone, email, in person, chat, and text).
- Reviews Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Appeals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
Bachelor's Degree

- Ability to communicate clearly and thoroughly with people of various back grounds and experiences in such a way that they feel comfortable and willing to work well together.
- Strong problem solving skills to analyze situations and experiences.
- Self-motivated and goal oriented, team player.
- Ability to handle numerous complex and routine tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Financial Aid experience at an institution of higher education and have knowledge of U.S. Department of Education and regulations, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board regulations for financial aid programs.
- Experience with Banner or Ellucian products.
Preferred Competencies
- Experience using Office products (Word, Excel). Using formulas and pivot tables.
- Be knowledgeable of Veteran Administration and state of Texas educational benefits for veterans and veteran dependents.

Yearly leave time includes:
