What We're Looking For
The Systems Analyst is a key member of Baylor's Student Systems team within the Department of Information Systems and Services. This team supports Ellucian Banner and other relevant systems that serve the University's student population.
This role reports to the Director of Student Systems and partners closely with campus stakeholders to understand business needs, solve problems, and deliver thoughtful, reliable technical solutions. While experience in higher education systems is helpful, we are primarily seeking a motivated analyst who is curious, adaptable, and driven to learn.
The ideal candidate is self-directed, strategic, and innovative, with a strong commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and one year of relevant experience are required. A master's degree and three years of relevant experience is preferred.
Required Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
Basic understanding of relational databases and ability to query data (e.g., SQL)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative team environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity
Ability to learn new technologies and systems quickly with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to think critically and approach problems with creativity and curiosity
The ideal candidate will have the following preferred qualifications:
Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, or other database programming languages including familiarity with database procedures, functions, views, triggers, etc.
Experience developing or supporting integrations between systems (APIs, data feeds, etc.)
Experience using Ellucian Banner Student system in a technical support capacity
Knowledge of higher education data needs and common processes (Admissions, Registrars, Advising, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, etc.)
Experience using the Eclipse IDE with Java, Maven and Git source control
Work will be performed in an approved remote / hybrid work environment that may include travel to Waco for on-campus/in-person activities/meetings as required.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.
What You Will Do
Design, develop, and maintain applications using Banner tools (including Page Builder, Eclipse) and other related technology options
Write and optimize PL/SQL code, database procedures, and queries to support and enhance system functionality
Collaborate with campus stakeholders to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver effective technical solutions
Monitor and evaluate Banner releases and updates; assess impact and implement necessary changes
Perform system testing, data validation, and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and reliability of solutions
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement enhancements to increase efficiency and usability
Support integrations between Banner and third-party systems
Provide technical documentation, user support, and knowledge transfer to functional teams and end users
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
Ability to comply with University policies
Maintain regular and punctual attendance
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 . The full salary range for this position classification is $51,569.56 - $85,089.77.
This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certification, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs.
